Finances - APC

Where do we go from here?

The holiday season is upon us and God has blessed the rescue by sending people the message that rescues need their help.  The animals need your help!

APC & IHR have grown over the years, with APC purchasing/owning 2 properties that are available for animals in need.  These properties belong to APC - however they also have mortgages, with payments each and every month.

Unfortunately, we can not continue taking in more animals with donations so low.  We have had donations to cover the grain for the next 30 days, and we have hay for the next 3 weeks.  Yes, donations have been trickling in, but there are additional expenses besides feeding the animals.  You may click here for a complete breakdown of expenses.  There are NO paid employees at the rescue, everything is done by volunteers.

Quiet Strength

I believe things happen for a reason.

Just a few weeks ago I was telling my sister that I wanted to read Coach Dungy's book, Quiet Strength.  I guess I forgot I had already purchased it in June and it ended up in my room under some other books.  Many of you may not know I LOVE football.  Years ago I used to go home on weekends and watch football with my father all day Saturday and Sunday - such great memories!  I have thought Coach Dungy was a special coach - I don't really know why - something in his mannerisms ?  Well, I found the book last Saturday ( UGH - housecleaning!) and could not set it down, I finished is Sunday - you may think it is about football, and yes there is a lot of football in there, but it is not about football, but the game - and how we play the game.  Not the game of football, but the game of life.  Read more by clicking here.

What's Happening - IHR

  •  We are in the process of reorganizing our websites - if a link does not work, please let us know.  We hope to make it easier for you to find things and view animals available for adoption.

  • Angie & Steve at IHR East are operating as investigators only at this time, so we are forwarding the website & all links to the main Indiana Horse Rescue site.

  • IHR North Central is closed, as they have relocated out of state.

  • We are DOWNSIZING all our equine operations due to economics & donations.  We will always continue to operate, assist with law enforcement and take in horses, but without donations, services must now be limited.  Everything is being done on a case by case basis.

  • We will assist in neglect cases, but we must limit our investigations.  We just do not have the manpower to continue doing this service all across the state as we have in the past.  The animals in our care must come first, as always their health is primary.  We will assist in advising anyone how to proceed when an animal is being neglected and in educating law enforcement or animal control on how the laws read and are able to be used.  We do train investigators, if you are interested, feel free to contact Tony Caldwell.

  • IHR Southwest, IHR Central and IHR Central West are currently housing and caring for over 100 horses.

Neglected or Needing Homes

As we prepare for winter, the number of neglect complaints have tripled in just matter of weeks!  Rescues all across Indiana and our nation are being inundated with calls from horse owners and animal lovers who can no longer keep their horses or know of horses being neglected.  None of us can do it alone - we need your help, your support.

The horses need a home - not just a stall!
For the month of November Extended through December 31st - we have lowered many of the adoption donations to help these wonderful horses find homes.  Call today!

Sponsor

Can't afford a horse but you would like to be a part of a horses life?  We understand that there are many people that would like to adopt a horse but have busy schedules, obligations or the lack of horse knowledge that would prevent them from adopting a horse.  Sponsoring is the support which allows us to keep the horses who are here until the right home is found.  Check out the many ways to Sponsor a horse, a stall, a pasture:
