What's Happening - IHR
-
Happy February! We
hope everyone has been staying warm and safe during these snow
storms of past and future! We want to thank God for
keeping the horses safe and fed and allowing us to continue His
work! We
hope that you will find it in your heart to make a donation to
help feed and care for the horses at all our divisions.
Each division is scraping to buy hay and grain to keep the many
animals in our care fed and healthy.
-
We are receiving
complaints in record numbers and are doing what we can to help.
If you see horses in need,
please contact your local law enforcement or Humane Society
first and make sure you ask if
they do large animal investigations. If they do not you can
refer them to Indiana Horse Rescue, for more information and
help.

Can
you send $1.00 (or more) to the rescue?
Send a Valentine card with your $1.00 to the rescue. Mark it
"Valentine" and we will see how many donations we can get for
the horses for Valentines Day! We will add them up for all
divisions to see how much we can collect to feed the horses for
the month of February!

Good news is that we
have a great supplier for sawdust for the stalls now!!
Thanks to a great lover of horses, we are able to get one semi
load per month which will allow us to keep all the stalls in
the barn cleaned and dry.
-
We have 10 stalls
sponsored of which 7 are built and in use. It is such an
awesome sight to see stalls and not just tube gates! It's
been a long 2 years at IHR SW but things keep progressing here
and at all our divisions. The stall sponsor pages are still
being updated but you can check them out at:

Farrier
We are thrilled to welcome Shulah
Greatwater as our on-site farrier at IHR Southwest in Owensville, IN.
Shulah has over 25 years experience as a farrier/blacksmith, rehabilitating
feet from various severe lameness problems including but not limited to:
Laminitis (founder), Navicular disease, Under-slung heels, Contracted Heels,
Cracked toes, White line disease.
Shulah is a natural barefoot
advocate and has had numerous success with horses that veterinarians had
given up on. As a barefoot advocate she will be happy to discuss the
pros and cons of booting your horse while transitioning from shoes to
barefoot. "Horses were not born with shoes."......
You can read more about her and
her contact info/rates at:

Adoptions
We have had many new applications
coming in with great references and are looking to find them the right horse for
their needs. We have volunteers donating their time and energy to work
with the horses and teach them from the ground up.
Don't forget we have some very
well trained horses at different facilities. Don't be late and miss out on
some GREAT horses! Come
see these majestic beauties no reasonable offer refused - we must make room for other horses in
need!
We are now doing
adoptions out across the United States, not just Indiana and surrounding
states! Read about 3 mules adopted from IHR Pike, IHR South & IHR
Southwest going to IL & Texas:

We know many of you are
having hard times. So is the rescue.
We are asking you to check your change and
help us
"make a change" in these
horses lives!
Needing Homes
Don't
forget donations are tax deductible!
The horses
need a home - not just a stall!
With the economy and the
number of horses needing homes all divisions have been VERY reasonable with
the adoption donations for each horse.
We are accepting
reasonable offers/donations
We have some very nice horses that are waiting for you! Set up an appointment to
visit today!
Incoming Horses
All Divisions of IHR have been
taking in horses. IHR Pike and IHR South are full until horses get
adopted. IHR Central and IHR Southwest have room for horses but
all divisions need funds. Many horses have been signed over due to
investigations and some have been donated with little or no money. IHR
Southwest has an outstanding hay bill of over $3000 for square bales that we
have been making payments on. However, we just don't seem to be getting anywhere
with always needing more square bales, more grain, and our electric bill
having doubled, and prices never seem to go down.
Competitive Trail Riding
Indiana Horse Rescue South West
will be hosting rides with the purpose of
conditioning
for competitive trail rides during the
riding season. Check in with us for more details. Negative
Coggins required.
Donations NEEDED!
