The Animal Protection
Coalition, Inc. was established in December of 2000 by Suzanne deVaucenne,
after she rescued two neglected and extremely ill French Poodle puppies
from an Indianapolis pet store. Suzanne, a lifelong animal lover, humane
educator and animal welfare advocate decided to become a louder voice on
behalf of all animals.
In
addition to providing a safe haven for homeless animals in need of rescue,
the Animal Protection Coalition focuses on adoption, rehabilitation, and
education. Supporting hopes of improving animal welfare in Indiana. We also work to
help prosecutors, humane societies, animal shelters, and animal control
officers with the enforcement of current Indiana animal welfare
laws.
Our
current President, Anthony R. Caldwell has an extensive background in
law enforcement, science, health and research. He was elected President of Animal Protection
Coalition, Inc. in 2003. He established
Indiana Horse Rescue in 1998, an equine rescue
organization dedicated to preventing unnecessary slaughter and abuse of
horses, which joined forces with Animal Protection Coalition, Inc. in
2002.
In the last two years, we have
experienced substantial growth as a powerful advocate for animal welfare in
the State of Indiana. In 2006
Cast-A-Way Critters joined the APC Team. In 2007 we are proud to announce that Indiana Horse Rescue Southwest,
and APC S.C.R.A.P.S have boarded our
Animal welfare train. In 2009 we also announced our NEW Indiana Horse Rescues
South Division in Perry County and our
NEW Indiana Horse Rescue Pike in Pike
County! 2010 has already paved the way for a new facility as well, APC
PawSavers, our newest Canine
Division is on board and ready to help dogs in need!
