- De-spooking/Training Clinic at
Beal Farms Equestrian Center in Ossian,
Indiana. This event will benefit
Indiana
Horse Rescue. Sessions start at 2:00 PM and
3:00 PM, and there is a 4:00 PM session that may be
a possibility. There is a limit of 5 horses per
session, Cost is $15.00 per horse/rider per session.
In this clinic they will be working on communication
with your horse and gaining confidence while riding
past, through and around challenging sights and
sounds . Introducing horses and riders to possible
obstacles found in the July Extreme Ride.

Horse Rescue. "Play" time will be fun interaction with your horse doing
groundwork, obstacles and game techniques. Reserve a Beal Farms equine, or
bring your own (all horses must have current vaccinations) Limited
enrollment, so sign up early! Held rain or shine. At the end of the fun
night, there will be a "minicompetition" on the just for fun obstacle course
for a lead your horse race!

York Hills
Horse Park
in Albion, Indiana to benefit the horses at
Indiana Horse Rescue. Trail Trials
is a friendly competition where a team of 2 horse/rider combination go out
on the trail and encounter ten obstacles. Each individual is judged on
how well they maneuver the obstacles and a team score is tallied. At
the end, each team's score for each obstacle is added and submitted.
Top four teams place, along with a prize for horsemanship. It is geared to
be a safe event - anyone cantering or cowboying will be eliminated. Rain
Date is scheduled for May 26, 2008.

- Extreme Ride Challenge Held at Beal Farm Equestrian Center in
Ossian, Indiana. Ride begins at 8am. 2 "runs" of the obstacle course
$25. The Challenge covers the entire 4 acres of Beal Farms, with holiday
themed obstacles, such as the Christmas Tree Jumps, the Halloween bridge
over water, The St Patrick's Day Ground Tie, and the Valentines Day Mattress
Bounce. Due to the rugged nature of this event, no riders under 14 and Green
Horses are not advised. Every participant must wear safety helmets and boots
and sign a liability waiver. All horses must show proof of current
vaccinations. Every penny of this event will go to the IHR- extra donations
welcome. Limited entries- you must pre-register by July 4th. For an entry

- We will have the Spring Indiana Horse
Rescue benefit ride at York Hills Horse Park, Albion, IN.
This is the same place as last year’s Spring ride. The owners have been
working over the winter and now have restrooms, shower stalls, and a horse
wash rack. This means they also have a well installed so there is a
constant fresh water supply. They hope to have electric campsites by
Memorial Day weekend, but no guarantees.
The “special event” of this year’s Spring ride will be a
fun CMO course. CMO stands for Competitive Mounted Orienteering. Here’s
an explanation taken from the National CMO website,
www.nacmo.org.
A few of us actually participate
in nationally sanctioned CMO rides. A few more have tried it as a fun event
and had a great time. We are sure that you will, too. We don’t plan on
being very competitive, though. We’d like everyone to come and have fun
riding the trails, enjoying the companionship of your horse and other
riders, and learning something new to do on horseback. So, put the date on
your calendar. We’ll get out more details closer to May 24, but you can
plan on paying the usual York Hills day ride fee of $10. Free will
donations of money, hay, and other horse items will be accepted for Indiana
Horse Rescue.
The object of the sport
is to ride out as an individual or a team on a prescribed course and find as
many of the hidden Objective Stations as you can and get back in the least
amount of time, on either a ten station long or 5 station short course.
